Al Ahmadi is a quiet, residential district in western Kuwait City. If you are planning a trip around summer, expect to spend most of your time indoors in air-conditioned spaces.
Al Ahmadi is best explored by car or taxi. Public transport in Kuwait is limited, and while buses do run through the area, they may not be frequent or convenient for all destinations. Taxis are readily available and affordable for short trips to the city centre, airport, or coast. If you plan to visit multiple locations in a day, hiring a car can be the most flexible option.
Kuwaiti cuisine is a blend of Arab and Persian influences. Look for maqluba, a layered rice dish with meat and vegetables; kabsa, the national dish of spiced rice and chicken or lamb; and fresh seafood from local restaurants. For a lighter option, try shawarma or falafel from street vendors. Arabic coffee and mint tea are common accompaniments to meals.
